Dear Friends,
I'm new to this forum and just got this message searched from google and that intended me to join this forum..
I'm wokring on a project with one of the big oil giant on building a part of their greenbelt into wildlife habitat. it's around 20 hectares of land.
Greenbelt for overcoming traditional pollution is well known custom in many countries for decades. But by applying a little change in Greenbelt project we can contribute a wealth for benefit of wildlife occurring in the region.
A properly designed Greenbelt will help in building a protected area for wildlife covering almost many species of birds, butterflies, insects, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals too. It will also help in overcoming pollution effects and makes surrounding environ greener and healthier. With very little modifications like plant species selection, providing water source and shelter for animals the green belt can be transformed into a mini sanctuary for local wildlife.
Key factors in designing or naturescaping for wildlife habitat is choosing right plants and, shrub species suitable to local wildlife for providing them a better habitat.
In this proposal I have designed 100 x 400 mt. patch of Greenbelt area for Essar Oil Lt. Site at Vadinar. My Efforts are on building wildlife friendly greenbelt system which is also ecologically important and sustainable.
My goal is to achieve lower food chain completely.. So i have decided to wokr on the following species,,,,It's abit of huge list.... but normally i have to spent some efforts like intially drip irrigation system...mulch...fertilizers etc....but once this trees got fixed they will grow easily....

Very interesting list - one thing also is that you are establishing seed sources for the future. I just looked at the list a bit and a bit of a caution is think about the potential for invasive plants.
Seed sources of natives is great - seed sources of exotics can cause some very bad results.
Sounds like a great idea though.
